The Accelerated Reader program is a computer-based reading program that tests reading comprehension. Students select books on their reading level, read independently or with a buddy, and take an independent comprehension test on the computer. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level. Students get a percentage of these points based on how many of the test questions they get right. The program tracks their progress over the course of the school year. We have found this program to be extremely effective in improving the children's reading. Each nine weeks children are recognized for meeting their individual A.R. goals.

Accelerated Reader is a computer-based reading motivation program that combines reading practice with the ability to earn points. Students choose and read books at their independent reading level. A computerized reading comprehension quiz is taken that determines the child's understanding of the text. Below is a list of quizzes grouped by readability levels. These levels were determined by the software developer using the ATOS Readability Formula and do not reflect grade levels.
